The
outfit and kit for a teen umpires calling games at the Majors2 level should include the
following considerations. Several of these items are required or expected.
Falling into that category are at least the ALL Umpire shirt or standard blue umpire shirt
worn over the chest protector, the protective cup, an indicator and plate
brush, a flag (runner
left early calls), chest protector, shin guards and mask, and no metal cleats.
A dark blue (preferred) or
black hat without logo (the logo covered with black electrical
tape is a reasonable temporary solution) is not required, umpires should
keep a look out for such.
It can be very handy to have a little string for making
repairs on equipment (your own or for one of the teams). Band-aids invariably are
useful. Water is a necessity, though usually one or both of the teams are
forthcoming with water for the umpires. Sun screen is expected.
