Levels of Play

Slam Ball
Played on a smaller diamond and with an abbreviated game time, Arlington’s youngest baseball players learn the concepts and the love of the game in a structured but festive environment.
age: 4

Tee Ball
Players use a batting tee to put the ball in play and learn the basic principles of hitting, running, and fielding.
ages: 5-6

Rookies
A natural extension of the Tee Ball program with the tee removed and coaches pitching to batters.
age: 7 (6 with Tee Ball experience)

Minors
The season begins with coaches pitching, but graduates to players throwing to each other.
age: 8-9

AAA
Players control all aspects of the game. This is a competitive and developmental program, which helps players establish and enhance skills.
ages: 9-11

Majors
The highest skills for this program are found at this level, which includes an optional and supplemental 50/70 program for players as they prepare for the transition to the larger diamond.
ages: 10-12

Challengers
Children with mental and physical disabilities enjoy playing weekly games in a unique program, side-by-side with “buddies” from the Majors division.
ages: 4-22

These age resctrictions keep my child from playing at the level where he/she belongs?  What do I do?
