The Volunteer Recruitment Committee will reach out to, engage, and best employ new and old volunteers in coaching, umpiring, and league administration. Specific tasks and questions for discussion will include:
- Develop an initiative to staff each dugout at the upper levels of ALL with an equal number of coaches and an equivalent level of competence.
- Propose a unified approach to the game for each team to employ in competition.
- Involve high school coaches in the coach training process and in coaching philosophy conversations.
- Lead discussion with upper level coaches regarding best practices and suggested changes.
- Create guidelines and expectations for volunteers to adhere to and look to for guidance throughout the season.
- Evaluate the league’s methods of showing appreciation to and retaining volunteers. Look, down the road, at organizing appreciation gatherings at the end of each season.
- Increase adult volunteer umpire corps to at least ten.
The committee will be chaired by Manager’s Committee Chair Sean Carrig, and will include AAA Commissioner Wayne Berry, Equipment Quartermaster Cathy Gaven, Majors Commissioner Dave Rohrbach, Training Coordinator Brian Coll, Volunteer Coordinator Dave Maher, and parent member Andy Ruge.
