In 2009-2010, Arlington County attempted to compel a merger of the two 12 and under youth baseball leagues, Arlington Little League and Cal Ripken Babe Ruth. When that effort failed, the Arlington Sports Commission, an advisory body of the County Board, created the Arlington Youth Baseball Association (AYBA) to attempt to continue the merger effort and provide oversight of the two youth baseball leagues. In order to use the County’s baseball fields, ALL is required to be a member of the AYBA. We remain hopeful that the spirit and purpose of this group can be to assist and advise Arlington’s youth baseball leagues. We believe that the flurry of ALL activity and the continued growth in ALL registration is evidence that youth baseball in Arlington Little League is thriving, and in no need of a fix.
